About me

That's me on the right, and Pete my husband
Aloha,

I am Yvonne Mokihana Calizar, most people call me "Moki" or Mokihana. My favorite people call me Tutu. Grandmother; a new a wonderful 'tag' and gift during the time of Covid-19. Blogging has been my creative outlet for storytelling and sharing life as a makua o'o (a tutu/grandmother) in training. Since first discovering what a blog is in 2008, I have created and share dozens of  different sites, story medicine and blogs of many variations.

Here are a few of those blogs to explore:

Vardo for Two and Vardo for Two 2 When I was diagnosed with MCS -- environmental sensitivities after exposures to others' use of pesticide and chemicals we needed to reimagine a life. These blogs describe the  building of our MCS-safe enough wagon on wheels (a vardo) and the life that grows from this truly small (8 feet by 12 feet), challenging and precious compact space.

Makua o'o is  the blog that continues my experience and practice as kupuna (elder) in training, begun when I met my kumu, Auntie Betty Kawohiokalani Jenkins  Ellis.

The Safety Pin Cafe began as a story that saved my life, opened my heart to including more myth and magic in the everyday and led to the dozens of medicine stories here. The most recent of my medicine stories is being written on this blog. Inspired by the birth of our first grandchild, I love what happens when old stories are sparked by new life.

Unfastening Your Safety Pins is the latest  of my blogs, evolving from FASTEN Your Safety Pins, I am now playing with Na'u ka hau'oli NEWSLETTER, the space you are right now, to experiment with abundant creativity yet again!

I love hearing from you, and welcome finding out about you.

Na'u ka hau'oli,

Mokihana
